About me

Hi! I'm Hannah, the founder of bakebags. Ever since I was a little girl and never wanted to leave my grandmother's sewing workshop, it was clear where my journey was headed. After school, I moved to Vienna, attended various fashion schools, and took part in the masterclass for Haute Couture.

During my training, I realized that I especially enjoy experimental techniques and unique projects. This led to the idea of turning these concepts and skills into a highly versatile accessory: the bag. I'm always excited to develop new ideas and send my little one-of-a-kind pieces out into the world.

Manufacturing/
Process/
Baking

Since all the models are different, the manufacturing process is very individual as well. However, there are basic methods for creating interesting surfaces, and one of them is baking. This is actually meant literally, as the fabrics go into the oven for this process.
This process is called "thermoplastic deformation." The fabric is first shaped into a special mold and then heated to a precise melting point of the fiber.
After cooling, the shape remains permanently. This process is always exciting, as the results vary slightly each time, making each model truly unique.

MATERIALs

A colorful mix of materials is used in the production of the bags. Special attention is paid to working as much as possible with "upcycled" and "reused" fabrics, refining them and giving them a new life. This is especially important for the models that are created using thermal deformation, as the process only works with synthetic fiber materials.

Customs

To get even closer to your dream bag, I also offer personalized orders. It’s simple:

1. You choose a base model.
2. You decide on a design (such as mold and/or material).
3. You share your vision with me.

Since not all materials are always available, and each model is slightly different, we can then decide together what’s possible and how to best bring your personal idea to life.

The availability of bags changes regularly, so I am unable to offer an updated online shop. However, feel free to browse here on the website or on the Instagram page to get an overview. To order a bag, whether it’s an existing model or a custom design, please contact me via the contact form here:
